DESCRIPTION:ALDHA-West\, the American Long Distance Hiking Association-West\, is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Inland NW Winter Ruck\, a long distance backpacking clinic\, Feb. 13 in Coeur d'Alene. This clinic is designed for anyone interested in doing a long distance hike\, especially on the Appalachian Trail\, Pacific Crest Trail\, Pacific Northwest Trail or any other long distance trail.  Our presenters include Triple Crown recipients. Each have hiked a mimumun of 8\,000 miles and completed the Pacific Crest Trail\, the Appalachian Trail and the Continental Divide Trail. They will share from their hard earned adventures. Other long distance hikers who have traveled thousands of miles will be sharing from their experieces. Guest presenter Melanie Simmerman is the author of the Pacific Northwest Trail Town Guide\, and a Triple Crown recipient. She will share her  journey on the Pacific Northwest Trail. Topics covered in this 7 hour clinic includes:Lightweight Back PackingThe PCT\, AT\, PNT\, and other trails\, and what you need to knowTrail and Town EtiquetteFood and Re-supplySafety and NavigationPresentation on the Pacific Northwest Trail Attendees are encouraged to bring their backpack and gear.  Then one of our experienced members will review the gear in a one-on-one pack shake down. The goal will be to create a lighter weight pack tailored to you and your desires. The clinic will be in Coeur d'Alene at the Merge room at Lake City Community Church\, 6200 N Ramsey Road\, February 13\, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.  $5 for members\, $10 non-members. Bagels and coffee will be available starting at 8:30 when the doors open. A chili lunch will be provided to those who pre-register. This is a great opportunity to visit and learn from some very experienced hikers!
