This Week's Events in Coeur d'Alene and Surrounds

Local Author Night

It's a night filled with adventure when authors Bill Percy and Michael Leach deliver presentations and sign books at The Well-Read Moose, 2048 N. Main St. (in Riverstone off Northwest Boulevard) in Coeur d'Alene. The bookstore's Local Author Night begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, and is free and open to the public.

Novelist Bill Percy, a resident of Hope, Idaho, will give a reading and sign copies of his psychological thriller, "Climbing the Coliseum," which was recently recognized as a Foreword Reviews' INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards finalist. Percy, a psychologist, draws on his years of experience to write vivid, engaging tales of real people confronting mystifying challenges. "Climbing the Coliseum" unfolds in the fictional rugged Monastery Valley of Montana, in the shadow of the towering Coliseum - a glacier-gouged cliff. In the mountains, clashing needs can swiftly turn tragic, but honesty, friendship, and the kindness of strangers can turn tragedy to new life.

Percy will be sharing the night with Michael Leach, author of "Grizzlies on my Mind: Essays of Adventure, Love, and Heartache from Yellowstone Country." The book represents a decade-long odyssey of advocacy, adventure and self-discovery in the wilds of Yellowstone. Working as a freelance nature writer, Michael's passionate, edgy and provocative essays, op-eds and natural history pieces have appeared in numerous regional publications.

Books will be available for purchase at The Well-Read Moose event, and authors will be available for signings.
