NIC Mother's Day Concert

Bring mom and the family to the annual NIC Mother's Day Concert presented by the NIC Music Department in Coeur d'Alene City Park at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 13. The free concert will feature music from the North Idaho College Wind Symphony and Chamber Singers.

A holiday staple for more than 20 years now, the Mother's Day Concert in City Park typically draws 800 to 1,000 concert-goers to enjoy music titles picked out to perfectly compliment mom's special day.

Pieces composed by John Williams such as "Hymn to the Fallen" and his version of the "The Star Spangled Banner" that he created for the Rose Bowl will be played. Other pieces include the folk song "O Waly, Waly," which is a variation of "The Water is Wide," and "Love's Old Sweet Song," to be sung by NIC student Wesley Saunders. "Clown Act," by Thomas Kahelin and "Kickin Up Country," by Larry Neeck will keep the crowd moving. Everyone is invited to dance to Carl Strommen's "Fuego del Alma," which embraces Paso Doble and flamenco music. Aaron Copland's "The Dodger" and "At the River" will also be featured as will the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "America the Beautiful."

In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and open to everyone.
