Annual Forest Health Workshop
Animals, plants, insects and diseases can sometimes impede reforestation, wildlife habitat or other forest stewardship goals. This Forest Health Workshop is an annual program that updates forest owners, foresters and others on methods to improve forest health.
Topics to be covered this year include:
· Douglas-fir Tussock Moth Update and Spruce Budworm: Tom Eckberg, Idaho Department of Lands
· Annosum Root Disease on Douglas-fir and grand fir: Dan Miller, Idaho Department of Lands
· Identifying and Managing Bear Damage to Conifers: Georg Ziegltrum, Animal Damage Control Program Supervisor, Washington Forest Protection Association, Olympia, Washington
· Understory Weed Species with an Emphasis on Brooms and Garlic Mustard: Tim Prather, University of Idaho Extension
· New Herbicides and Insecticides for Forestry: Joel Fields, Wilbur-Ellis Company
· Pocket Gopher and Vole Control: Ken Hart, University of Idaho Extension
The program is eligible for five Idaho pesticide license re-certification credits, five Society of American Foresters continuing forestry education credits, and five Idaho Pro-Logger continuing education credits. Participants should pre-register by Friday, Dec. 2 to ensure their place (registration forms are available at local University of Idaho Extension Offices).
The workshop is an Idaho Forest Stewardship program, co-sponsored by University of Idaho Extension, the Idaho Department of Lands, and many other agencies and organizations.
